Terms of Service

Last updated: 14 May 2026 · admin@scribbla.com

These Terms form the contract between you and Scribbla.com Ltd ("Scribbla", "we", "us"), a company registered in England & Wales (company no. 17215102), with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, England, United Kingdom, EC2A 4NA, contactable at admin@scribbla.com. By creating an account or using Scribbla you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy, and the relevant supplementary policies linked below.

1. The service

Scribbla helps you draft, refine, illustrate, publish and sell books with AI assistance. We provide writing tools, AI drafting, citation and research helpers, a publishing pipeline and a reader bookstore. Some features require a paid subscription or one-off purchase of Quills (our in-app credit unit).

2. Eligibility

Scribbla is for users aged 16 and over. If you are 16 or 17, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms on your behalf and confirm that consent via the email link we send to them. Accounts under 16 are not permitted; if we discover one we will close it and delete the data. See our Children's Policy.

3. Your account & security

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us promptly at admin@scribbla.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We may require additional verification for high-risk actions (payouts, deletion, role changes).

4. Licence to use Scribbla

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use Scribbla in accordance with these Terms. You may not resell access, scrape, reverse-engineer, or use the service to build a competing product.

5. Your content & the licence to Scribbla

You own the prose and other original material you create. To run the service, you grant Scribbla a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, transmit, format, render, back-up and display your content as needed to operate the platform. If you publish or list a work for sale through Scribbla, the additional terms of the Author Agreement apply.

6. AI features & disclaimers

Scribbla routes prompts to third-party large language models (see our AI Usage Policy). AI output may be inaccurate, biased, or inadvertently similar to existing works. You are solely responsible for reviewing every AI-generated draft for accuracy, originality, lawfulness and suitability before publishing or relying on it. AI output is not legal, medical, financial or professional advice.

7. Quills, pricing & reissue

Quills are an in-app credit unit consumed by AI generation, image creation and similar features. Live pricing for plans and Quill bundles is shown on our pricing pages and inside checkout. If a single AI generation produces unusable output due to a clear platform fault (e.g. truncation, server error), we will reissue up to 80% of the Quills consumed for that generation upon request. Quills have no cash value and are non-transferable between accounts.

8. Payments & refunds

Paid features are billed via Stripe. UK and EU prices include VAT where applicable. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. See our Refunds & Cancellations policy for the 14-day right of cancellation under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the conditions on which it can be waived for instant digital supply.

9. Acceptable use

Use of Scribbla is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy. We may warn, restrict, remove content, or suspend or terminate accounts that breach it.

10. Intellectual-property complaints

We respond to copyright complaints under our DMCA & Notice-and-Takedown Policy, which also provides EU and UK equivalents and a counter-notice procedure.

11. Termination

You can close your account at any time from the Account page. We retain your content for 30 days after deletion in case you change your mind, then erase or anonymise it (subject to legal-retention duties such as tax records). We may suspend or terminate access where you breach these Terms, where required by law, or where keeping the account active poses a risk to other users.

12. Privacy

Our handling of your personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimers & liability cap

Scribbla is provided "as is" and we exclude implied warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully limited. Subject to that, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is capped at the greater of £100 or the fees you paid us in the twelve months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim.

14. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, save that consumers may bring proceedings in the courts of their place of residence where a mandatory consumer-protection rule requires it.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by in-app banner and email at least 30 days before they take effect, except where a shorter period is required by law or for safety. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
